Google could have kept developing for Picasa as it did not have any overlap with Google Photos. The current capability of Google AI would have put Picasa miles ahead of other softwares for PC with such accurate Face detection, scene detection, tagging, image editing, etc. Seeing the developments Google made in AI and implementing those features in Google Photos, it's a shame that Picasa was not able to make benefits of those developments. The Face grouping feature from Picasa is so good that no other software has been able to catch up to its speed and accuracy even after years of closing down Picasa. It had all the features required for average user as well as power user. Picasa was the best Photo management tool available for windows.
